Corresponding to session 6.4 of GA ANCIENT CIVILIZATIONS
Dr. Lawson, the archeologist, is leaving for Irak (Assyria). A reporter is interviewing him.
Reporter: | -- Dr Lawson, do archaeologists usually work on site? | Reporter: | -- How does the Egyptian civilization compare with the Assyrians, the Chaldean... |
Dr. Lawson: | -No, most of our research is done in museums and libraries. The most important and oldest papyri are already there. However, when we are studying a particular period, we visit the site hoping to find something as rare and unusual as the pieces in London or Paris. | Dr. Lawson: | -The Egyptian Empire is older than the others and lasted longer. However, by the Bronze Age, Assyrian tools were better than the Egyptian ones because they were stronger, more durable and more efficient. |
Reporter: | -What is your worst problem? | Reporter: | - Did the Assyrians excel in all fields? |
Dr. Lawson: | - Our worst problem is the unscrupulous collector. They are worse than the tomb robbers. They want the most valuable pieces, never the least interesting ones. | Dr. Lawson: | --Well, I don't think so. Egyptian medicine was more developed than that of the Assyrians. And the Assyrian administrative system was not as developed as the Egyptian one. |
